Neuro-Linguistic Programming, or NLP, utilizes tools and techniques to use the language of the mind to consistently achieve our specific and desired outcomes.

What is NLP?
– Neuro refers to the nervous system (mind), where all our experiences are processed via
the five senses:
- Visual
- Auditory
- Kinesthetic
- Olfactory
- Gustatory
– Linguistic refers to language and other nonverbal communication.
– Programming refers to our communication to ourselves and others and the ability to recognize and utilize the programs that we run to achieve our specific outcomes.
Let’s make this simple with an example:
Have you ever tried communicating with someone that speaks a different language and they didn’t understand you? Like traveling to a different country, hailing a taxi to your destination and somehow ending up somewhere else.
Our relationship with our unconscious mind is similar to this analogy. We often think we know exactly where we’re going and how to get there, and that we’re on track to better relationships, a fit body, more money, spirituality, great sex, but unless that’s what is materializing, then something is off-track with our communication with others and ourselves.
You see, your mind is made of the conscious and the unconscious. The conscious mind SETS the goal and the unconscious mind GETS the goal. If the conscious and the unconscious communicate effectively, you get everything your heart desires. If they communicate ineffectively, you will continue to find yourself in unexpected destinations.
If there were one thing you could improve on, what would it be?
-
Make more money
-
Better Sex
-
Love
-
Better Golf Swing
-
Stop Smoking
-
Lose Weight
-
Stop Procrastinating
Whether it’s something that you desire or a habit that you want to Stop now, it’s all possible with effective dialog between your conscious and unconscious. It’s all just a matter of uploading new programs to your server. NLP utilizes tools and techniques to quickly create change within and help you achieve your goals and desired outcomes.
In hypnosis the body and mind are equally suggestible, operating as a harmonious unit. Hypnosis has an effect on the unconscious as well as the conscious mind, creating change from the inside, out.

Hypnosis
Have you ever got into your car, driven to your destination, but unsure of how you even got there? Or been so enthralled by a conversation that you felt mesmerized?
If so, you’ve been in trance. Being in a state of trance is part of the process of being hypnotized. Most of our waking hours consist of being in a state of trance by the people, events, occurrences around us, thus being in a state of hypnosis is natural and a part of every day life. We are, and can be hypnotized by the rhythms of music, conversations, TV, actions of others, nature, etc. To be hypnotized is to be susceptible to suggestions from others.
Let’s look at an example:
Have you ever been waiting at a red-light for the light to change and the car next to you got the green light and thus proceeded forward, which triggered an action of movement in you to move forward, although your light was still red?
If so, you were in a state of trance. Trance is natural state. A state in which you’re unconsciously taking in information around you and acting on it. Do you see how this awareness of what you take in consciously and unconsciously may be of value to you? To your loved ones? Our daily communication affects others at a very profound level, thus communicating in a way that is effective and positive is ideal. Unfortunately, most of us were never taught how to communicate, nor that we should guard our minds from ineffective communication, thus we are programmed in ways that are less than ideal.
Hypnotherapy: What is it?
Hypnosis is an effective way of communicating that creates change and overrides old programming, habits, and patterns at an unconscious level; where change must happen to be effective and lasting. It is simply a state of consciousness characterized by focused imagination and heightened receptivity.
How does Hypnosis work?
Hypnosis works by bypassing the critical faculty of the mind and making suggestions that favor a new desired behavior/habit. The critical factor is like a guard at the gate between your conscious and unconscious mind. It passes judgment on any-and-all thoughts and suggestions directed toward the individual because it sees change as a threat to the nervous system. It’s job is to protect the body by staying within it’s comfort zone; thus any conscious attempt at change that doesn’t match the existing programming automatically gets rejected. The only way a real change can take place is to get the new programming into our subconscious mind. We can do that by continued repetition (affirmations, could take years) or unconsciously via hypnosis, NLP, and similar techniques, where real and immediate change can be made.
In hypnosis the body and mind are equally suggestible, operating as a harmonious unit. Hypnosis has an effect on the unconscious as well as the conscious mind, creating change from the inside, out.
What if I’m not hypnotizable?
Everyone is hypnotizable and some people find it easier to relax and go into trance faster. Whether it takes you 1 session or numerous sessions is the real question. During the first session you may find it easy to relax or it may not. Either way is fine. It’s proven that the more you’re hypnotized, the deeper into trance you go. I personally self hypnotize myself and find it convenient to use for relaxation, sleeping on planes, dental work, and a multitude of change work that I like to do on myself. So the question is rather how long can it take you to relax and change, because it can happen for anyone.
